Chiropractic
The
Chiropractic Approach
Chiropractors specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that are
due to mechanical dysfunction of the joints and their effects
on the nervous system.
Our Qualified chiropractors use their hands
to manipulate, adjusting the joints of the spine and extremities
wherever signs of restriction in movement are found. This manipulation
improves mobility, relieves pain and allows the body’s own
healing processes to get on with the task of improving health.

Poor, inadequate or incorrect function
in the spine can cause irritation of the nerves that control posture
and movement This spinal nerve stress, which may be caused by
factors such as an accident, lack of exercise, poor posture or
anxiety, can lead to symptoms of discomfort, pain and even disease
- a warning that the body is not functioning properly.
How
Chiropractic Can Help?
By
adjusting joints and the vertebral spine, chiropractors
can help put the body back into its natural alignment. Nerves
that provide feedback to the brain, telling it where the
joint is out of alignment, then start functioning properly
and the irritation diminishes or disappears.
Depending
on where in the spine the nerve irritation has occurred,
symptoms may include one or more of the following:
• Headaches - Migraines
• Neck Pain
• Back Pain
• Chest Pain
• Shoulder Pain
• Arm - Wrist - Hand Pain
• Leg - Knee - Ankle - Foot Pain
• Abdominal - Pelvic Pain
This is because irritation of the nerve in one area can
sometimes lead to pain (known as referred pain) in other
parts of the body. Painful symptoms are a warning sign that
should not be ignored. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose
the cause and to treat it by use of adjustment.

Chiropractic
treatment is very precise and the adjusting techniques employed
are very gentle and can be used safely on very young children
and elderly patients alike.
Our chiropractor uses a special treatment bed with drop sections
that allow him to make adjustments using very little force.
This system was developed in the USA after a chiropractor
witnessed a baby being treated on its mother’s lap.
Before adjustment was made, the mother raised her heel off
the floor, and as the adjustment was made her heel dropped,
causing a ‘rebound’ effect, resulting in the release. |
Treatment is holistic and our chiropractor
will always work ‘from head to toe’, locating restrictions
and releasing them. He will then retest to establish that full
freedom of movement has been achieved.
A chiropractic check-up is frequently beneficial
after prolonged dental treatment, childbirth, hysterectomy, whiplash,
accidents, sports injury, etc.

Three
Stages of Treatment
Stage
1: Is the first-aid stage, where the chiropractor will
remedy acute pain and discomfort.
Stage
2: Corrects the structural imbalances that gave rise
to the acute situation. At this stage exercise, sleeping position
and other aggravating factors are discussed and suitable advice
is given.
Stage
3: Maintenance, which means strengthening your weakness
and maintaining your spine free of restrictions. It is worth remembering
that back problems do not happen overnight - and may even go back
to childhood!

Muscle energy techniques, traction, roller
bed, heat, ice, laser, electromagnetic therapy and acupuncture
may be used in conjunction with chiropractic.
Where necessary, we may suggest that you
need blood tests , X-rays or MRI scans.
