Urine Organic Test
The diagnosis of children with attention deficit disorders (ADD),
learning disabilities and autism is on the rise. Recent research
indicates that these disabilities lie on a continuum depending
on the severity of the symptoms. There are many possible causes
for these disorders. Included are problems with the brain, associated
with birth or other physical trauma, reduced immune system function
as evidenced by allergies, frequent illness and systemic yeast
infections, over exposure to antibiotics, reactions to immunisations,
fatty acid imbalances, neuro-transmitter disorders, and trace
element and B vitamin deficiencies.
Symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
(at least six are necessary for positive diagnosis)
- Often fails to give close attention to
details or makes careless mistakes
- Often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play
activities
- Often does not listen when spoken to directly
- Often does not follow through on instructions or fails
to finish work
- Often has difficulty organising tasks and activities
- Often avoids, dislikes or is reluctant to engage in tasks
requiring sustained mental effort
- Often loses things
- Often distracted by extraneous stimuli
- Often has sleeping difficulties
Symptoms of Hyperactivity and Impulsivity (ADHD)
(at least six are necessary for positive diagnosis)
- Often fidgets with hands or feet or squirms
in seat
- Often has difficulty remaining seated when required to
do so
- Often runs or climbs excessively often has difficulty playing
quietly
Often “on the go”
- Often talks excessively
- Often blurts out answers to questions before they have
been completed
- Often has difficulty awaiting turn
The organic acid urine test
This test was developed in the USA by Dr. William
Shaw following his discovery that the role of abnormal organic
acids from gastro-intestinal micro-organisms found in the urine
formed a pattern in children diagnosed as autistic. Other patterns
of abnormal organic acids were found in children diagnosed as
– Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Hyperactivity and
Impulsivity (ADHD) and those with Learning Difficulties (LD).
The simple concept that every substance we have in our bodies
produces waste can be easily understood. The procedures of testing
athletes for drug abuse, and performance enhancers supports this
concept. It is also possible that from an extensive organic urine
analysis, deficiencies and imbalances may suggest metabolic disorders
found to be prevalent in functional or behavioural disorders.
It is also feasible that the correction of these imbalances or
deficiencies may have a dramatic influence on these disorders.
